Plan International UK strives to advance children’s rights and equality for girls all over the world. Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children. We have been building powerful partnerships for children for 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.
The Policy and Programmes Directorate supports our aims by ensuring that we deliver the highest quality policy and programmes. We constantly enhance programme quality and effectiveness, raise income from institutional donors (like the British Government), and drive change through setting and influencing policy agendas. Within the Directorate, our Development Programmes Unit supports Country Offices by helping them to design high quality programmes, and by raising the funds from institutional donors needed to implement them.
We are recruiting a Senior Manager: Strategic Programmes to provide effective leadership to programme implementation teams to ensure programme delivery to time and at quality, including through direct oversight of the DFID South Asia WASH Results Programme team. You will ensure strong liaison between programme implementation teams for cross-learning and scale up and lead on strengthening programme implementation processes and systems.
Some overseas travel is envisaged (estimated at up to 25% of working time).
To succeed in the role you will need to have proven experience of successfully overseeing programme implementation for large institutional donor funded projects, preferably including large consortium projects as lead. You will also have previously lead and coached multi-disciplinary teams to achieve targets; developed successful, high-value proposals for projects that support girls’/women’s rights, and represented to donors such as DFID and the EU. Experience of oversight of WASH programmes and field experience in Africa and/or Asia are desirable.
The deadline for applications is 9:00am on Friday 6th July 2018
Interviews are intended to take place on the 12th and 13th of July
Due to the nature of our work with children, we follow rigorous child protection policies and procedures in our recruitment process. As a result, some of our roles are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from joining us as an employee or volunteer; this will depend on the circumstances of any offences.
